The Gilbert Veterans Advisory Board sponsored educational presentations for fourth grade students at 13 elementary schools in Gilbert in November and December of 2025. These presentations covered the history of the USS Arizona BB 39, the attack on Pearl Harbor at the beginning of WWII, and an introduction to the new USS Arizona SSN 803 and Gilbert's role as its sponsor city.
Perch Base member Joe Trotter was a co-presenter at seven of these schools. The pictures show Joe with his co-presenters Army Viet Nam veteran Jim Lykins, DAR member Patti Zerr, DAR member Ann Fisher, and Air Force veteran dog trainer Rose Lichtenfels. Not pictured are Joe’s co-presenters DAR member Maura Mackowski and Marine veteran Charles Dine.
