Sierra Verde Elementary
Ten Perch Base members; Kirby Anderson, John Beckett, Bob Gilmore, Ed Henry, Governor Joy, Dan Marks, Paul Miller,
Carl Miner, Don Robertson and Joe Trotter, participated in the Sierra Verde Elementary School Veterans' Appreciation
Assembly on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Sierra Verde, a Science, Technology, Engineering And Math (STEAM) school, conducted a Veterans Appreciation Day program.
They fed us breakfast then held an assembly to show their appreciation for Veterans and their patriotism. They really treated us like VIPs!
Three of the students gave awesome speeches of appreciation for the veterans in attendance. Their speech are provided, below:

The Perch Base members came in early, before the students arrived for class, to setup the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) float and
numerous other visual aids.

The USS Phoenix (SSN-702) was looking good. Kirby Anderson and Don Robertson had cleaned it the day before.
The Military Vehicle Collector Club brought some of their vehicles.
They fed us, too!
Numerous students came in and asked the veterans questions about their past service.
The Deer Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC came to perform the Color Guard for Sierra Verde.
When breakfast, served in the library was complete, the veterans were escorted to the assembly hall. The students lined the way like sideboys!

The student choir led the entire assembly with "The Star Spangled Banner" after the posting of the Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Sierra Verde STEAM School Principal Mrs. Lanese welcomed us.
The school band played for us.
