OBITUARY
Perch Base Holland Club and Life Member Tim Moore departed on Eternal Patrol on July 31, 2020.
Our condolences to his Sons, Darren and Kevin, Daughter-in-Law Renee and the rest of the family.
Tim Moore was the Chairman of the Arizona Silent Service Memorial (ASSM) to be built in Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza
in front of the Arizona State Capital Building. As stated by his fellow ASSM Board Member, Chris Urness,
"Tim passionately carried this Memorial for the past several years, all the way to the 1 yard line. It’s beyond
heart-breaking that he’s doesn’t get to see it through to the finale." Ground breaking at the Memorial Plaza is
scheduled for Monday, August 3rd and the public dedication ceremony is scheduled for the fall of 2020.
Tim previously served as the Perch Base Commander, Vice-Commander and Base Secretary.

Tim Moore joined the Navy in 1960 and discharged in 1965 as a Radioman Second Class, RM2(ss), serving mostly aboard submarines in Squadron 10, New London, CT from 1962 to 1965. His first duty assignment was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CV‑14) from 1961-1962. Tim then joined the Submarine Service on USS Seawolf (SSN‑575) in 1962 and qualified on the Seawolf in 1963. He also served on the on the USS Croaker (SS‑246) in 1963 and also was assigned to the USS Skipjack (SSN‑585) from 1963 to 1965.

There was a touching Remembrance Ceremony For Tim at the Sun City Salvation Army chapel on
Thursday, August 12, 2020, at the Salvation Army Sun City Chapel. Thanks to the Salvation Army for providing the
ceremony location including the COVID-19 precautions taken.
The Ceremony was also broadcast virtual on FaceBook Live via this
LINK which will remain viewable for an
unspecified time.
The ceremony opened with a rendering of military honors in which the Honor Guard presented the flag to the family
"On behalf of the President of the United States, the United States Navy and a grateful nation."
The Remembrance was then led by Tim Moore's Pastor Tim Wright of the Community of Grace in Peoria (Phoenix) AZ and a
eulogy by his Son, Darren. Several others in attendance also spoke of their experiences with Tim.
Perch Base Chaplain then presented a Eternal Patrol Certificate to the family.
The Ceremony then concluded with a Mexican food meal, Tim's favorite.
UPDATE: 08/29/2020
Tim Moore was selected posthumously for the Robert Link National Commander’s Award.
Robert "Bob" Link was the first National Commander of USSVI.
This is the USSVI version of a “Letter of Commendation” from the National Commander. The selection and
presentation of this Award is at the discretion of the National Commander, Selections are made by the
National Commander, Wayne Standerfer.
